Otherwise, they may use your refusal against you. You may still be able to dispute the test results. For example, breathalyzers are not always accurate and they have to be given properly to be accurate.
How to Avoid Drunk Driving
It can also be helpful to take steps to avoid drunk driving. While it is usually legal to have one or two drinks, anything more than that will usually lead to a higher BAC. If possible, find a designated driver to provide transportation if you plan on drinking. If you don’t have one, there is always the option of calling a taxi or a rideshare, like Uber or Lyft.
Police are also looking for drunk drivers at certain times of the day. This is usually between 9:00 pm and 6:00 am.
It is also important to always wear your seatbelt. Police officers will be looking for other traffic violations, like distracted driving or failing to wear a seatbelt. Don’t give them any more reason to pull you over. Additionally, a seatbelt can protect you if you’re in an accident with another driver. With an increase in travelers during the holiday weekend, accidents are more likely. There will be more drivers on the road who are unfamiliar with the roads and may be fatigued from traveling for long hours.
