    About Bordentown Township, NJ

Bordentown Township is located in Burlington County, New Jersey. The township was incorporated in 1852 by the act of the state legislature following the results of a referendum, formed from portions of Chesterfield Township and Mansfield Township. The city of Bordentown later separated from the township in 1877. The township was named for its founder, Joseph Borden. Bordentown Township is home to the protected ecosystem of the Trenton-Hamilton Marsh, which is formed by the intersection of Crosswicks Creek and the Delaware River. Bordentown Township is also home to a former brownfield site being revitalized by the local electric utility company into a solar array project.

Frequently Asked Questions about Criminal Defense in Bordentown Township, NJ

FAQ: Do I have to let the police search my vehicle or my home?

The police may search a container, vehicle, office, or home pursuant to a search warrant. The police may also be entitled to conduct a warrantless search under certain circumstances, such as if officers observe contraband like guns or drugs in plain view, or a pat-down of a person being detained or placed under arrest, or a search of a vehicle that police canines have indicated contains drugs. Before you consent to a warrantless search requested by police officers, or when police arrive to conduct a search of your home or office pursuant to a warrant, it is critical that you contact our criminal defense attorneys to evaluate whether to consent to a warrantless search and to ensure that your rights are observed during any search by police.

FAQ: Do I have to go to trial on my criminal charges?

Most criminal cases are resolved before a defendant has to go to trial. In some cases, it is possible to have cases dismissed when it is shown that the defendant is innocent of the charged offense or that the state does not have sufficient evidence to prove every element of each charged offense beyond a reasonable doubt. In other cases, it is possible to resolve criminal charges with a plea agreement, in which you agree to plead guilty to certain offenses in exchange for the state recommending a sentence that is less severe than you would likely have received if you were convicted at trial.
