    About Haddon Township, NJ

Haddon Township, named for early settler Elizabeth Haddon, is a municipality located in Camden County, New Jersey, incorporated in 1865 from portions of Newtown Township. The Saddlertown community in Haddon Township became a stop on the Underground Railroad; the community was founded by a runaway slave who had fled Maryland with his wife and daughters and taken the surname Saddler to avoid detection. Unlike many neighboring boroughs that prohibit the sale of alcohol, Haddon Township is home to many popular bars and restaurants.

Frequently Asked Questions about Criminal Defense in Haddon Township, NJ

FAQ: What happens if I have a prior conviction on my record?

If you are convicted of a crime and have prior convictions on your record, the trial court may be entitled or may even be required to take your prior criminal record into account when determining the severity of your sentence. State and federal law permits or requires courts to increase the severity of sentences depending on the number or type of offenses on a defendant’s prior record. In particular, if you have been previously convicted of the same crime that you are presently charged with, you could be facing a more serious punishment if convicted. It is important that you have knowledgeable legal representation on your side to help you avoid new convictions or to ensure that you prior record is correctly calculated.

FAQ: Do I need an attorney if I am merely being investigated for a crime?

Yes. Even if you are merely the target of or a person of interest in a criminal investigation, it is critical that you contact a criminal defense attorney who can immediately begin conducting an investigation on your own behalf. An attorney can determine what evidence the state may have and the potential criminal charges being considered. Depending on the circumstances, it might be possible for your criminal defense attorney to help you avoid arrest and being charged with a crime.
