    About Glassboro, NJ

Glassboro is a borough located in Gloucester County, New Jersey. Present-day Glassboro was originally formed as a township in 1878 from portions of Clayton Township. Portions of Glassboro were later taken to form Elk Township in 1891 and Pitman in 1905. Glassboro was reorganized as a borough in 1920. Glassboro gets its name from the glass industry that was dominant in the area during the late 18th century through the 19th century. Glassboro is home to Rowan University, itself formerly known as Glassboro State College. Rowan (then Glassboro State College) was the site of the Glassboro Summit Conference between President Lyndon B. Johnson and Soviet Premier Alexei Kosygin. Frequently Asked Questions about Glassboro, NJ Criminal Defense

FAQ: What benefit is there to accepting a plea deal?

Deciding to plead guilty in your criminal case can have its benefits. Generally, when you agree to plead guilty you do so in exchange for the dismissal of some charges or the reduction in seriousness of other charges, and in exchange for the prosecution recommending that the trial court sentence you to a much less severe sentence than you would have likely received had you been convicted at trial. As a result, by pleading guilty you may be able to obtain a more favorable outcome to your criminal charges or potentially avoid certain criminal punishment or collateral consequences of a conviction.

FAQ: What are the types of criminal offenses in New Jersey?

In New Jersey, criminal offenses are categorized into three groups. The first group are indictable offenses, which are the equivalent of felony offenses in other jurisdictions. Indictable offenses are further grouped into four degrees of severity, with first-degree indictable offenses being the most serious crimes. The second group of offenses are disorderly persons offenses, which are equivalent to misdemeanor offenses. Finally, the third group of offenses are petty disorderly persons offenses, which are the least serious type of criminal offenses.
