    About Florence, NJ

Florence is a township located in Burlington County, New Jersey. It was incorporated by the state legislature in 1872 from portions of Mansfield Township. Florence’s namesake is the famous city of Florence in Italy. Florence was originally developed in the mid-1800s by the Florence City Company, who developed the original layout of the township and oversaw the construction of the wharf, with the Florence Iron Works being established nearby along the Delaware River in 1857. During the 19th century, Florence was a popular vacation spot for residents of Philadelphia and New York City due to its sandy beaches along the river and the establishment of natural hydrotherapy springs.

Frequently Asked Questions about Criminal Defense in Florence, NJ

FAQ: Do I need an attorney if I plan on pleading guilty?

Even when you have decided to plead guilty to your criminal charges, it is critical that you first consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney. An attorney may be able to identify strong evidence that could help your defense or point out weaknesses in the prosecution’s case, which may lead to the reduction or dismissal of charges or give you the confidence to contest your charges at trial. An attorney may also be able to negotiate a plea agreement or a more favorable plea deal than the one you were originally offered.

FAQ: If the person who called the police doesn’t want to testify, does that mean that my charges are dismissed?

Not necessarily. Even if the alleged victim or a witness refuses to testify or assist in any way with the prosecution, the state may decide to continue prosecuting your criminal charges, especially if the state has physical evidence or photographic or video evidence and doesn’t need testimony from an alleged victim or witness. In some criminal cases, such as those involving domestic violence or sex crimes, many prosecutors’ offices have policies against or disfavoring dismissing charges even when an alleged victim or witness declines to testify.
