About Bellmawr, NJ
Bellmawr is a borough located in Camden County, New Jersey. Bellmawr was incorporated in 1926 from portions of Centre Township pursuant to the results of a referendum. The borough was named for Ernest C. Bell, a horse breeder. Bellmawr is home to one of the largest post offices and sorting facilities for the state of New Jersey, handling an average of 4.5 million pieces of mail per day. Much of present-day Bellmawr was owned by the Harrison family, who operated a farm and grist mill; during the American Revolution, family patriarch William Harrison Jr. mortgaged the farm and mill to raise money to form the Gloucester Town Militia.
Frequently Asked Questions about Criminal Defense in Bellmawr, NJ
If you have been offered a plea bargain in your criminal case, it is critical that you first speak with an experienced criminal defense attorney who can evaluate your case and advise you as to whether the plea offer represents the best possible outcome given the circumstances in your case. Our criminal defense lawyers at Gelman Law can sometimes negotiate a better plea deal or even obtain dismissal or reduction of your charges once we have conducted our own investigation of your case and identified weaknesses in the state’s evidence.
If you wish to use a public defender, you will usually be required to establish that you are an indigent person — that means that you don’t have enough money to pay for a private criminal defense attorney. Even if you are found eligible for a public defender, it is always preferable to be represented by a private criminal defense lawyer. While public defenders do laudable work and represent their clients to the best of their ability, the reality is that public defenders are often heavily overworked. A private criminal defense attorney is often able to devote time and resources to your case that a public defender may not simply be able to provide.
