    About Franklin Township, NJ

Franklin Township is located in Gloucester County, New Jersey. It was incorporated in 1820, formed from portions of Greenwich Township and Woolwich Township. Parts of Franklin Township were later taken to form Clayton Township in 1858 and Newfield in 1924. Franklin Township is named for founding father Benjamin Franklin. Franklin Township’s early growth was fostered by farms and orchards, along with glasshouses and saw and grist mills. Franklin Township is the largest municipality; one-third of the land, mostly in the eastern portion of the township, lies within the Pinelands National Reserve. Nearly half of Franklin Township’s land is devoted to agricultural uses, with residential areas only making up another quarter of the township’s land.

Frequently Asked Questions about Franklin Township, NJ Criminal Defense

FAQ: What happens if I am falsely accused of a crime?

Even if you believe that you are innocent of a crime, that does not automatically mean that your criminal charges will eventually be dismissed. The police and prosecution may continue to have probable cause to continue your criminal prosecution. And in rare cases, people have been convicted of crimes that they did not commit. Instead, it is important that you seek out the assistance of an experienced criminal defense attorney. An attorney can conduct an investigation into your case to possibly uncover evidence that proves your innocence. In any case, an attorney can point out holes and weaknesses in the prosecution’s case that may ultimately lead to the dismissal of your criminal charges.

FAQ: What happens if the person who called the police doesn’t want to testify?

Even though the victim or a reporting witness does not want to cooperate with the police and prosecution or testify in your trial, that does not mean that your case or charges will be dismissed. The prosecution may decide to continue prosecuting your charges if it has other evidence of your guilt, such as physical evidence or photographic evidence or surveillance video. In addition, some prosecutors’ offices have policies against dismissing charges when a victim or witness declines to participate or testify, particularly in cases involving domestic violence or sex crimes.
